OCTOBER, 2006                                                                                           NUMBER 2

Dear Parents,

Cathedral is already alive with activity!  In addition to all the student events that are taking place, the Parents’ Board is charging ahead with plans for the OCTOBER 27 Card Party. Be sure to return the enclosed checklist to your son’s homeroom by wednesday, October 4.  Everyone’s cooperation assures the success of the Card Party.   YOUR help is greatly appreciated!

Seasonal Dress ENDS on Friday, Oct 13th

Beginning Monday, October 16th, students are expected to be in regular school uniform.  Cathedral’s dress code can be found on pages 41-42 of the Student/Parent Handbook.  Order forms for school sweaters are in the main office.

Change in Policy: Physical Exams

In an effort to improve the health and well-being of our students and facilitate the Athletic and Physical Education aspects of Cathedral Prep, we will require that every student have a current physical examination on file as of January 1, 2007.  Current is defined as “within the last year.”  Please be sure to have your doctor clearly indicate all health concerns for your son.

This requirement has already been met by the Freshman Class and any athlete who participated in a Fall sport. They do not need to update medicals. Any other student is required to update his physical examination.  For your convenience, a new medical form has been enclosed.

If you have any questions concerning this change in policy, please contact the Main Office.

Parent Advisory Board

Several years ago I formed an advisory board of parents to help keep the channels of communication open and honest.  Over the past few years this board has become extremely important to the life of Cathedral.  One of the recent developments on the board was the appointment of representatives to each class who would serve as liaisons between the class and me.  These liaisons are:

Freshman Year: Ozzie Velez (718 843 8911) or Rita Lanza (718 769 2526)

          Sophomore Year: Barbara Mauceri (917 939 6166)

Junior Year: Brenda McDonnell (work  212 488 0251)

          Senior Year: Marie Turturro (718 382 7230)
